PREVIEW- "Urban Shogun Character Guide"

Your boy Mase (no, not the rapper-turned-preacher-turned-rapper) has dropped a new sourcebook for his magnificent martial arts comic Urban Shogun, and (as is my custom) I have posted up a few pages below for your viewing pleasure...

start the day off Right w/the Pharcyde

This classic video (directed by Spike Jonze, I think) for the Pharcyde single Drop is one of my favorite rap videos ever...

Radio Free Amerika takes place five years after the united States is attacked by a conglomerate of enemy states including China, Russia and Cuba. Looks dope... peep a preview below...

Comicbook World #58: Diamond Planet

I admit it: When I heard that scientists had discovered a planet made of diamond, the first thing that came to my mind was Crystar: Crystal Warrior... Just in case you are not a total dork like me, Crystar: Crystal Warrior was a sci-fi fantasy adventure mini-series created by Marvel Comics in the early eighties for the express purpose of pimping to toy companies, the easier to fleece pre-teen boys of their allowance... Oh, I guess you wanna hear more about the diamond planet, huh?
Sure... today is a great day for science...

Ah... Sweet, brown, fragrant VENGEANCE ♥

Okay, who wants to go watch Colombiana with me tomorrow..?

Preview- "Corsairs: Captain's Log" by Charlie Goubile & Daniel McNeal

Unfortunately, I didn't make it out to Onyxcon this weekend... If I had, I can promise you I would'a copped Corsairs: Captain's Log, which teases the upcoming space action joint by Charlie Goubile and Daniel McNeal about "rebel space pirates from poverty stricken colonies, who are forced to rob and steal for their own survival."  Peep some preview art below...

Conan don't luh deez hoes...

Everybody knows Conan is the grimiest dude ever, and a role model to thugs, gangsters and chin-checkers everywhere! I mean, he rose from rags to riches on the strength of his cunning, his strong arm, and (of course) unending devotion to the god of steel... he's like 50 Cent, but didn't need to resort to rhyming and vitamin water to stack the chips, ya dig?  Anyways, in this 3 page just-for-kicks fan art comic by the mighty Paul Maybury (Aqua Leung), Conan shows you how a true pimp handles his bidness...

Samurai VS Vampires... FIGHT!!!

This came out last month, but I forgot about it. Yeah, sue me... Look: Do you want this preview or not?

Webcomic (p)REVIEW- "Saint's Way" by Yasmin Liang

I was on a friend's blog when I came across an ad for the amazing new webcomic Saint's Way by unbelievable college student Yasmin Liang.

3 words: BLACK! DYNAMITE! PILOT!

You SHOULD already know that the fine folks at Ars Nova, creators of that bad ass mofo Black Dynamite, have combined with the animation team from The Boondocks to bring a brand new Black Dynamite cartoon to Adult Swim in 2012, but you can watch the pilot to the show right now in the video below. Sex, violence, pimps, cussing, puppets, kids with guns...
Do I really have to CONVINCE you to watch this? REALLY?!?

Start the Day off Right w/ MF DOOM & GhostFace

PREVIEW- Spider Island: CLOAK & DAGGER #1 (of 3)

On Sale Now- "Peacekeeper: Old World Order #1" by Erik Reeves

If you're not familiar with his work, Erik Reeves is an example of a largely unknown cartoonist whose stock is rising in the comics world. Besides being a go-to guy in the design world, Erik is carving out a niche in the Dallas comics scene with his self-published sci-fi-action comic, Peacekeeper: Old World Order. I snatched the preview below from the jaws of Indyplanet, where the first issue is on sale now.

Your man Crazy Al Cayne caught up with Shah from the DormWorld crew at Bronx Heroes Comicon (where they debuted their promising new hiphop-rich action comic, Battlemasterz) for a quick interview. I've been peeping the Dormworld cats for a while on the internets, but it looks like they cranked it into high gear while I wasn't looking...

Corey Lewis goes all Re(y)tro on you...

I came across this awesome one page comic Bloodshed by Corey "Rey" Lewis yesterday, and thought it was awesome! It's his recreation of a character from his childhood, influenced by the wacky early 90's anti-heroes we loved so much back then. Peep the motion comic and some blahzay blah from Corey below.

PREVIEW- "Staceytron: Mass Perception"

I did a piece for the faceless internet nerd demigoddess Stacey Owens for her artbook project Staceytron: Mass Perception last year, and now the book is finally out. The cover was smashed out by the venerable Dave Johnson and the book includes a laundry list of dope artists known and unknown, so it will be a great bit of exposure for me I think. Why don't you peep some preview art while I go pat myself on the back?

PREVIEW: Dziva Jones Cover art

Here's Stanley Weaver Jr's cover art for Aminah Armour's comic about the bodyguard and crimefighter with the brickhouse frame, Dziva Jones. Peep the pencils below...

Start the day off Right w/Jurassic 5

I went on a brief but necessary road trip this weekend with my daughter, and dug into the case for some speeding driving music and grabbed Power In Numbers, the third album from the dearly departed hip hop crew Jurassic 5. In my humble opinion, this particular song (Break) may be one of the best highway songs ever...
